Day 61 – I want to stay here forever!

It was the plan to only stay one night, but I don’t want to leave yet. I’ve been stuck in the Brooklyn house for 59 days. Let me stay here for another 59!

We decided to check out the neighborhood today. Saw a few people drifting around, again, without masks. But still, socially distanced. Some of our neighbors seemed to be home. Ortley is not a year-round community, but I assume they’re here because it’s a different four walls, as I mentioned yesterday.

We walked up to the boardwalk and noticed some of the stairs were roped off and so was the boardwalk, but one of the staircases wasn’t roped. We walked by street to another entrance. Worst case, if we’re not allowed on the beach, a cop can tell us to leave and we would comply. No one was there to tell us to leave, so we pressed onward.

The water was so clear! The beach has been cleaner than I remembered in my youth, but never THIS CLEAR!

Ortley Beach – 5/13/2020

We saw very few people walking along the sand. Some with their pups. One guy was fishing. It was very socially distanced. Can’t ask for a better reprieve from the last 59 days.

My daughter was so happy! It was warm but the breeze was still chilly. That didn’t stop her from playing in the sand for a good 45-60 minutes. I lost track of time. I just sat on the sand, along with my husband, and just enjoyed the waves crashing and the sea gulls flying like little kites in the sky.

My daughter and I protested leaving, but my husband and I have meetings in the morning, so it’s best to take care of business and return in a few days. Since everything went well, we are planning more trips. Maybe we will bring the inflatable kiddie pool for the kiddo when the weather gets warmer. It would also be nice to not have to keep the heat on in the house anymore ?
